FAQ: Programme

  1. What is an evening satellite session and how can I host one?
In addition to the official programme Satellite Sessions will take place prior to the Forum at Estrel Hotel on 1 September. The satellite sessions will be open to participants from outside the Forum as well. They will be organized independently by the organization(s) hosting the satellite (e.g. NGOs, government agencies, foundations or other institutions).
We would encourage organizers of satellites to explore the possibility of joint events for greater impact and synergy effects. In general, priority will be given to proposals for satellites that present issues not covered by the Forum’s official programme as well as break-out sessions. The deadline for application is 17th July. More information here

  2. What are the skills building sessions?
The Skills Building Sessions are a core element of the Forum, pursue cohesion, leadership and capacity development. Its purpose is to offer workshops covering a diverse range of topics with the principle aim of providing a stage for coaching specific skills or strategies to specific audiences that can then be applied within their own work once they return home.

  3. What are the working languages of the Forum?
The vast majority of the events taking place at the NGO Forum will be translated into English, French, German and Spanish.
All plenary sessions, breakout sessions and skills building workshops will be translated; regional meetings and the youth symposium will be conducted in only one working language. At the Open Discussions on Strategic Options, working groups will be made up according to the language skills of the participants. The language used at the Satellite Sessions will be decided on by the respective organizers. The core documents of the conference (outcomes, background paper) will be published in three conference languages as well as Arabic and German.

  4. How is Global Partners in Action ensuring sufficient youth representation within the program?
Global Partners in Action is committed to meaningful youth participation in all phases of the forum. The Programme Working Group has made special efforts to ensure adequate representation of young people and youth issues in the Forum’s programme. For example, all plenary panels will include at least one youth speaker. In addition, several breakout sessions will address youth issues and/or include youth panelists or facilitators. The selection of topics and speakers for the breakout sessions is based on inputs from the application process, so the youth issues represented in the programme will be those identified as key priorities from forum applicants. In addition, there will be a youth SRHR symposium one day prior to the Forum, September 1st held at the Estrel Hotel, which will specifically address youth perspectives, youth participation, youth achievements and opportunities in relation to the ICPD review process and beyond. Finally, a youth space will be available throughout the Forum for young participants to hold meetings, network, and strategize.

  5. How can I become a speaker?
In the application forms for the NGO Forum applicants had the opportunity to indicate if they wanted to facilitate or speak in a breakout session. Speakers will be identified by the Programme working group of Global Partners in Action (see questions xyz) and will be notified in sufficient time prior to the conference. You cannot apply as a speaker for the regular programme anymore.

  6. Can I bring my organization’s banner and publications? What is the Information Bazaar and how can I be part of it?
The Information Bazaar will provide a space for presentation to all organizations that participate in the NGO Forum. Five regional stands with delivery tables will be installed next to the central meeting and catering area at the conference venue. This way, the Information Bazaar will be integrated into the overall conference setting and will attract the attention of other participants from different regions or sectors. It will give NGOs and regional networks, who are selected, the chance to present themselves by delivering information material, but no banners. Due to space restrictions, organizations will not be equipped with their own stand, but will jointly present their information material within a regional format. Technical details on how to submit and present information material at the Information Bazaar will be published on the website soon. As a selected participant you will also be notified in sufficient time prior to the conference about further proceedings.
