About Global Partners in Action
2009 marks the 15th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), a UN conference held in Cairo, Egypt in 1994 that put the need for universal access to sexual and reproductive health care and rights at the heart of sustainable development. Civil Society actors all over the world have played an important role in the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action. It is time to review progress, assess challenges and make plans for the future.

Global Partners in Action will be a landmark global conference with more than 400 participants/world leaders representing NGOs working in different fields of health and development from countries, regions and networks all over the world. Additionally, representatives from leading donor countries, UN and other multilateral agencies, the private sector as well as parliamentarians have been invited as observers.

Reproductive health advocates from around the world will focus on working in partnership to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights for sustainable development in an uncertain and interdependent world and create political will to save the lives of women and men and improve the health and well being especially of young people around the world. The theme of the Forum is Invest in Health, Rights and the Future. www.globalngoforum.org
